Mentorship Program Guidelines


Purpose of SHRM at SJSU’s Mentorship Program is to Provide Opportunities for Students to:

  • Explore the world of work through interaction with professionals in various facets of HR

  • Gain an experienced HR practitioner's perspective on applying textbook concepts to real-life situations

  • Understand the corporate environment, policies and procedures

  • Identify long-term professional development needs

  • Benefit from the value of networking

  • Develop meaningful professional relationships


Mentor Eligibility and Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in an HR related field

  • Ability to meet with your mentee at least twice during the program duration

  • Mentor must make initial contact with mentee within one week of assignment


Mentee Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Current SHRM at SJSU Member

  • Ability to meet with your mentor at least twice during the program duration

  • Mentee is responsible for managing communications and coordinating meetings


Program Duration: Six weeks
