Professional Development Workshops

We host events like Resume Workshops every semester, where you can have your resume reviewed and critiqued by a panel of experienced HR professionals and recruiters. Other workshops include Mock Interview, LinkedIn Workshop, Business Etiquette, and many more!

 Company Tours

We love touring local companies in the Bay Area to learn about their unique cultures and business and HR practices. Carpools are usually arranged. In the past, we've visited Facebook, Google, Adobe, Tesla, Chegg, Plantronics, Jive Software, Intuit, NetApp, and Symantec.

Guest Speakers

We invite professionals who specialize in many different aspects of HR to share presentations on their expertise or information sessions on their companies. We've had the pleasure to learn about HR Analytics,  compensation, insurance services, organizational development, and much more.  

Networking Events

Meet and network with local professionals from NHRA and BAHREC while gaining valuable insight into current Human Resources issues. Participate in social events where you get the opportunity to network with fellow SHRM@SJSU members in a fun environment.

Leadership Opportunities

Are you interested in growing your leadership skills and being an influence within SHRM@SJSU? Consider applying for an officer role or SHRMittee to be more involved on campus and have hands-on experience.

Mentorship Program

Be paired with an HR professional with 2-15+ years of experience. This is a great opportunity to find out what it's like to work in HR and gain valuable information about how to start your career.

Buddy Program

Be paired with a SHRM officer who will guide you through the semester. If you are interested in applying for a SHRM leadership position, then this is a great chance to gain insights into how our student organization operates and get a realistic job preview of officers' tasks and responsibilities.
