What Is A Mentor Program
SHRM @ SJSU Mentor Program offers a structured setting that allows students to develop beneficial one-on-one relationships with HR professionals. Acting as a guide to the professional world, mentors have the opportunity to encourage and advise students by sharing their own experiences and knowledge of the HR profession.

Mentor Program Structure
The program is designed to last six weeks. Once you have elected
to participate in the program and you have fulfilled the eligibility
requirements, you will be matched with a mentor.
During those six weeks, you and your mentor can participate in activities such as...
- Lunch with Mentor
- Attend company staff meeting
- Meet other HR professionals
- Observe the development of a special project such as a training program or curriculum, wellness program, or health fair.
- Observe a day of recruiting.
- And much more!
Student Eligibilty
To become eligible to participate in the SHRM @ SJSU Mentor Program, you will need to...
- Be a member of SHRM @ SJSU
- Be a current part time or full time student as SJSU
- Participate in one Mentor Program Training Session
- Complete the Mentor Program Application
- Be able to communicate with your mentor once every two weeks
- Be available to meet with your mentor two times during a semester
- Actively participate in and support SHRM @ SJSU student chapter events
How to apply for mentorship:
- Fill out Mentorship Application.
- Submit Application: Accepted by any SHRM @ SJSU Officer or drop off application to BT 650.
